First Things First

The Basics – In order to be an affiliate marketer you must first become affiliated with a company so that you can promote their product in return for payment. There are several companies in which you can be an affiliate.

•Clickbank - Clickbank unites thousands of vendors of information products.
These are the types of products that are downloadable such as, ebooks, video tutorials, software etc. You may sign up as an affiliate for free which allows you to now promote the products that you find in the Clickbank marketplace and receive commissions every time a sale is made on your behalf. Clickbank is a favorite in essence of the large commissions that you are able to attain; some are as high as 75% of sale.

•Commission Junction – this is also an affiliate marketing network that connects thousands of vendors, affiliates and products. The difference with Commission Junction is that although there are information products available the majority or the products to promote are those of retailers that sell physical products. Many large and brand name retailer can be found here. Sign up is free and potential is unlimited.

•Linkshare – Linkshare is very similar to Commission Junction, Linkshare also has information and physical products. It is also free to sign up.

•Double Click Performics -Performics functions the same as Linkshare, and Commission Junction. The systems do not look the same and sign up processes slightly differ but it free and simple and there are hundreds of vendors to choose from to promote. It is also free to sign up.

•Adsense Ads, Crisp Ads, & Bidvertiser Ads – These sites are different from the ones above. These are ads that you place on your website or blog that when clicked on you will receive a rate per click. This is possible because the vendors/advertisers are paying the company (i.e. Google Adwords, Bidvertiser…) per click for their ads and then the company pays you, the publisher, a certain percentage of what the vendor/advertiser pays them. These are very effective when you have a high traffic website/blog. The ads change periodically and are closely related to the content on your website/blog

These are just a few (the most popular) of the many affiliates out there. If you type affiliate networks in your search engine I’m sure you will get these and many more affiliates to take advantage of. Another way to find affiliates is if there is a particular company you wish to be affiliated with, always check the small links at the bottom of their website and see if there is a link for “affiliates”, “associates” or sometimes “business partners.” If you’re not sure or can’t find it you could always contact the company to find out more information.
